What's the craziest or weirdest hunt you've ever been on? At Hog Wild, we have some stories. We've seen some pretty wild things out here, but this has by far got to be the craziest moment we saw last year.
As hunters know, you never know what will happen when you're hunting. You could see some amazing and beautiful things and you could also get lucky and something cool could happen. This story is one of the latter moments.
From time to time we get bow hunters on the property. On this particular day, we had a bow hunter out looking for hogs. After some time, he was able to locate a hog. He readied and drew his bow and went to shoot the hog on its broadside when it moved right at the last second! Unaffected, the hunter went ahead and released the arrow. What followed is one of the craziest things we've ever seen!
The arrow flew away from the bow and hit the hog at the base of the ear. No big deal right? Well because the hog moved he missed the preferred kill zone, which is the shoulder when hunting hogs with a bow. The hog's last minute movement allowed the arrow to pass through its ear and through his neck, killing him on the spot. When the hog fell, we were surprised to see another hog in the backside of the first one. The arrow hit the second hog square in the forehead. The arrow penetrated and dropped both hogs immediately!
Our hunter shot two hogs with a bow in one shot and killed both of them, dropped them both dead right then and there! One of the coolest things we've ever seen. It was truly a once in a lifetime shot.
